ADB supports as simple client server architecture, where the application represents the client and several data base servers. In contradiction to Corba the database servers are not containing any application part.
As all database system, SDB relies on the fact that there is a database server running, which maintains the storage spaces for the objects. Clients can connect to this server and fetch copies of the objects from the server. The connection between client and server are implemented by means of message queues and shared memory.
